Our Language Camp, which has been taking place for many years, took the third grade students of the International Primary School Glauchau, their teachers, educators and native speakers to the KIEZ in Weißwasser from 02.06.2025 to 04.06.2025.
After an almost three-hour journey in two modern coaches, the children eagerly moved into their bungalows. The rooms were prepared and after a hearty lunch, the first workshops got underway.
Asian culture, South America, African arts, London, sport and music were on the program. Our native speakers were supported by colleagues from a friendly Czech school near Prague. The children and all the supervising adults quickly made contact and communicated in English and with their hands and feet.
The workshops included dancing, arts and crafts, singing and sports. After three completed workshops, the evening began. The children were able to let off steam again by playing and running around on the camp grounds and looked forward to dinner with a big appetite. Soon after the evening toilet, it was quiet in most of the rooms, as the day had been exciting and exhausting.
Day 2 started after a healthy breakfast with more workshops. From morning to evening, the children learned a lot about African culture, London, our neighboring country the Czech Republic and South American and Asian countries. In between, they had lunch and a short break to catch their breath. There was no shortage of sporting activities either. In the evening, everyone rocked out to disco music.
After a good night's sleep and breakfast, the children presented what they had learned, designed and made in the various workshops. All the children from our school and the Czech pupils ended the language camp with a joint dance and the Czech song they had learned.
With packed bags, lots of new impressions and the pride of having endured the two strenuous days, the journey back home began.
