The nationwide Read Aloud Day, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, took place on November 17, 2023. This time, the motto of the day of action was "Reading aloud connects". Because it creates closeness. But it can do much more: it is the most important prerequisite for learning to read well, encourages children to discover the world with curiosity - and is the key to their future. Whether in the family, school or daycare center, between generations, different countries of origin and cultures: connections strengthen children, promote exchange and overcome boundaries - they create cohesion and are as diverse as the activities surrounding the nationwide Read Aloud Day. We also took part once again. We engaged Ines Springer as a reader.
Ines Springer is a German politician who has been a member of the Saxon state parliament since 2009 and lives in Glauchau. She read from the book "Ich bin dein Buch, wickle mich aus" to classes 1 and 2 and from "Zippel, das wirklich wahre Schlossgespenst" to classes 3 and 4. All the pupils were enthusiastic and demanded a longer reading time through sustained applause.
In 2024, we will once again be taking part in Read Aloud Day with a celebrity.
