The children in class 3a of the IGS took part in a great hands-on tour to find out how a library works and what you can discover there. Everyone listened intently to the friendly librarian Ms. Puchner from the city and district library in Glauchau's Forderglauchau Castle. The library covers the entire second floor of the building complex and has a total of around 55,000 items in its catalog for borrowing. The pupils quickly realized how important it is to understand what they read. Everyone had to solve a small task and find different media in the children's library and present them to the others. We not only found lots of different books, but also games, music, audio books, magazines, comics, films and much more. We learned that mangas from Japan are read from the back, which surprised us a lot. Some of the children caught the reading bug and were able to borrow their first exciting and interesting books today. We all enjoyed the great atmosphere in these special rooms and would like to incorporate a regular visit to the library into our after-school program in the future. After all, reading is important for all subjects and is also a wonderful pastime that stimulates the imagination and is good for the soul. Thank you very much for this great morning.
