everyday school life

The children of the IGS also experienced the magic of the pre-Christmas period in 2022 with numerous highlights. On December 6, of course, we first looked into Santa Claus' socks and snacked on little sweet surprises before heading to the traditional visit to the Glauchau City Theater. This time we saw the Christmas play of the Mondstaubtheater and were especially happy to see former students of the IGS on stage.

A day of hiking took several first and second grades to Glauchau Castle. Under the title "Heavenly Christmas," we were given a special tour of the castle, sang Christmas carols together, and marveled at paintings and historical furniture. We enjoyed speculoos and hot Advent tea in the snowy castle courtyard and then made our own little guardian angel in the Knights' Hall. What a successful day!

The two festive concerts of our choir under the direction of Mrs. Ahnert put the numerous visitors in a Christmas mood. A varied program with English and German Christmas songs provided good entertainment. The third and fourth graders had independently rehearsed dances for the occasion, for which they received great applause.

Finally, an individual Christmas party was arranged in each class. Santa Claus could often be found in the stairwell.

As part of the student assembly on the last school day before the vacations, all children and teachers of the IGS sang Christmas carols together. The great commitment of our team of swimming teachers was also honored by the DLRG.
