Reading Day

Since 2004, the nationwide Reading Aloud Day, a joint initiative of DIE ZEIT, Stiftung Lesen and Deutsche Bahn Stiftung, has been Germany's largest reading aloud festival and a public signal to get children and adults excited about the importance of reading aloud every year on the third Friday in November.

Every year, more and more people take part in the nationwide Read Aloud Day. Whereas just 1,900 people took part at the beginning of the day, there are now around 600,000 proud participants throughout Germany.

On November 18, 2022, the Nationwide Reading Aloud Day took place for the 19th time. The motto of this year's event was "Unique together" and we celebrated the diversity of our society as an everyday enrichment and unifying element together with all listeners. At the same time, the motto left plenty of room for our own design.

We also took part for the second time. We engaged René Rudorisch as the reader.

René Rudorisch born July 13, 1978 in Greiz is a German sports manager. He is currently the managing director of ESBG Eishockeyspielbetriebsgesellschaft mbH, which is responsible for the operation of the German Ice Hockey League 2, the second highest professional ice hockey league.

He read from the book " Yakari, the little Indian boy" for classes 1 and 2 and from "4,5 friends and the fateful knee bend" for classes 3 and 4. All the students were enthusiastic and demanded a longer reading time through sustained applause.

In 2023, we will once again participate in Read Aloud Day with a celebrity.
