This school year, our school is once again involved in sport and has already achieved a number of successes. The "competition season" started on December 13, 2023 with the all-round competition in Meerane. Teams from 9 different schools competed here. It was exciting right to the end and our children gave their best. In the end, they were rewarded with 1st place. Our school also qualified for the regional final, which took place in Fraureuth on January 17, 2024. It was only the second time that our school had been able to take part in the second round of the eventing competition. The children were very excited and it quickly became clear that the competition was even stronger than in the preliminary round. However, our children were not deterred by this and they once again put in a great performance. In the end, they could be very proud of themselves and their results and secured 5th place.
Between these two competitions, the preliminary round of the two-a-side football tournament was held at Sachsenalleeschule on January 10, 2024. Here, our children once again demonstrated their strong team spirit. They were able to beat the other three participating schools from Glauchau and Waldenburg and took first place. This allowed our children to qualify for the next round once again. This then took place on March 7, 2024 in the Sachsenlandhalle Glauchau. This time there were eight teams against which our children were able to prevail and in the end they won in an exciting final.
In April, the German-Czech two-a-side football tournament also took place internationally. A total of 10 schools from Germany and the Czech Republic played against each other over three days. The rules of the game are a little different to those we know from regional matches. Nevertheless, our children once again showed their great team spirit and were able to win almost all of their matches in the preliminary round. Only in the final did they have to admit defeat in a very exciting game against the team from Leipzig and took a great 2nd place. Everyone received an ice cream as a reward.
