Late Summer week or Autumn week?

Many children at IGS Glauchau were certainly wondering whether the last week before the fall vacations should have been called the late summer project week instead of the fall project week. Over the course of the almost hot but beautiful five days in September, the pupils worked with their classmates in interdisciplinary lessons on selected topics for each class level.

The first classes learned lots of new things about autumn and hedgehogs. The pupils took part in short walks, listened to a short hedgehog story, made a hedgehog out of natural materials or food and created hedgehog pictures.

In grade two, the pupils learned about the native trees and, of course, looked at them up close.

The third-graders focused on cereals and potatoes this week. They learned about the most important types of grain, embellished fabric bags with potato prints and prepared a delicious potato lunch.

The fourth classes dealt with the topic of forests. One important project was "The forest in a shoebox". All of the school's pupils were able to admire the creative results in an exhibition.

In addition, things got really sporty on Tuesday at our fall run. The fastest runners in each class were allowed on the winners' podium. The beautiful weather left us with wonderful memories of both the fall run and the entire fall project week.
